Mmmm, movies. I don't know what else to say here other than YAY MOVIES. I always end up finding all the awkward weird characters to do in these things -- from the cheery/innocent Maid Marian to the snarky Mrs. White (that costume has always been a dream of mine XDDD). There will always be more movie costumes added to this. Hehe.
Worn at: Halloween '10, Katsucon '11
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Ken
Character: This sort of started out as a joke. Then Nate and I were trying to figure out what to wear for Halloween. It snowballed from there! It was definitely worth it if only for the first little girl who came to the house. She was scared of the yard and didn't want to come get candy but when we came out of the door dressed as Barbie and Ken she freaked out and ran up to us. She was absolutely darling. We had so much fun in these and decided we should bring them to a con or two! We adored Barbie and Ken in the movie because they were so perfectly Barbie and Ken. And Ken was a dork. <3 Plus, I adored how they made Barbie kind of kick ass in the movie, haha!
We brought these to Katsucon 2011 and had so much fun in them (even though the wig and shoes decided they want to hurt, me XD). We found an amazing Jessie and had a lot of fun with a group of Disney characters! The photos from Katsucon were taken by the amazing Katsuya Weller and the awesome Blanko (who had a kickass Peter Pan costume for the Disney group!)~

Halloween 2010:
Katsucon 2011:

Fun things: Seeing children's faces light up on Halloween when they saw Barbie and Ken. It was so adorable. <3
Bad things: THOSE HEELS. Besides that, the wig is a little heavy, but that's about it!
Worn at: Dragon*Con '06
Status: Active
Group: w/ Ronnie as Snowball & Jason as Ajax
Character: The best part about this was getting "WARRIORS! COME OUT TO PLAY-EE-AYYY!" yelled at us randomly throughout the day. We also got pictures taken and comments on how much the movie was loved -- which is awesome because the movie deserves a lot of <333 and it's always been only sort of a cult favorite (not that that's bad at all ;D). While I went as my favorite, Cowboy, Ronnie went as Snowball and Jason went as Ajax. We got these vests from the sadly now defunct website A-1 -- and we originally just bought them to be cool pieces of movie memoribilia, since we loved the movie so much. Then we realized "DUDE COSTUMES" -- and this is what came of it. I love this movie to death and had to pay it tribute. CAN YOU DIG IT?

Pictures:

Fun things: Everything! Especially having people recognize them because they know the movie and yell things to us. Also, the shoes. Mmmm, Converse.
Bad things: Nothing. Well, the hat made my head hot and gave me hat hair, BUT THAT'S IT. XD
Worn at: Halloween '01
Status: Retired
Group: w/ Valerie as Silent Bob
Character: Jay from Kevin Smith's Jersey Trilogy (and then some). My sister and I were trying to figure out what to be for Halloween and we thought "Duh. The evil duo of Jay and Silent Bob." We got a lot of comments on the costumes. They were comfortable -- well mine was. I don't know about Valerie's fake beard (which looked pretty damn awesome). XDDDD And yeah, Jay is supposed to be taller than Silent Bob, but we really couldn't do anything about that. Heheh~

Pictures:

Fun things: Everything. Taking pictures. Being stupid like Jay, rapping like Jay, dancing like Jay. And my sister as Silent Bob rocked too. Bwahahahha!
Bad things: NOTHING! This costume was awesome and way too much fun.
Worn at: Dragon*Con '08
Status: Possibly active?
Group: w/ Erin as Will, Jeremy as Blinkin and Team Takeo and Little John, Robin Hood & Asneeze!
Character: Haha, so Team Takeo and Robin Hood! We have been talking about doing these costumes for years now and we finally got them done! They were a lot of fun too. Out of all of Maid Marian's outfits in the movie, I always thought the bright pink velvet cape of ABSOLUTE DOOM would be the most recognizable and fit in the best with the Men In Tights (she's surrounded by them when she wears the cloak and Robin "sings" to her, lol). Erin helped me make the cloak and I couldn't find a costume crown like hers (that wasn't a buttload of money) so I ended up with a golden wire tiara thing, which worked fine for me. Hehe. Wearing these costumes was awesome, but damn was that thing hot! We were down in the food court and I was standing in line to buy some lunch -- now, under the cloak, I was wearing a nightgown, like she does in the movie. It wasn't a very thick nightgown by any standards, so that didn't add to the heat problem -- but that cloak acted like six layers of clothing, seriously. I think it was worth it though cause it was awesome to have people singing the Men in Tights song along with us as we walked by.

Fun things: Besides being damn hot, the costume was pretty comfy (like walking around in pj's!) and it was so entertaining with the all the men in tights and the singing and stuff.
Bad things: That cloak was BURNING HOT. D:
Worn at: Dragon*Con '04, Dragon*Con '05
Status: Retired
Group: w/ Sarah as Connor
Character: Sarah and I were in love with this movie and her favorite was Connor while mine was Murph -- so we thought WHY NOT? XD We bought the official crosses off the website (because we = fangirls), along with the temporary tattoos and had a ball at Dragon*Con. My favorite was when I was walking into the girl's bathroom; and there was a guy outside who hit one of his friends -- "HEY! IT'S MURPHY FROM THE BOONDOCK SAINTS!" Much love to Sarah for the pictures below, cause we got them all with her camera. Muahah!
|
Pictures:

Fun things: It was comfortable as hell and then trying to talk with an accent - which is impossible for me. XD And the crosses are SO PRETTY. Also, Sarah's ghettofab arm tattoos = <3333
Bad things: Nothing at all~ well worrying about the tattoos coming off, but that's it. Hehe~
Worn at: Dragon*Con '09
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Mr. Green, Aphy as Mrs. Peacock & Lusa as Yvette
Character: Ever since I was a little brat and I saw this movie for the first time (and didn't understand half the jokes then, lol) I was in love with Mrs. White. On subsequent viewings of the movie I fell in love with her even more and when I started out with the whole costuming hobby, this is definitely one of the costumes I always wanted to put together. Finally I have and I adore it so much. Clue is one of my top three movies and to be able to costume as Mrs. White with other Clue characters was a FANGIRL DREAM COME TRUE. I always thought it would be diffcult since I have giant hair that would never fit under a wig that short correctly, but when I got my hair cut before D*C '09 I thought it might work. So gathering up the wig and all the outfit parts, one of my favorite characters CAME ALIVE. MUAHAHAHA~ [/evil laugh] Okay, no really. I adore this outfit and this group. And as I was about to get out of the dress (I was stepping over a suitcase or something), the back ripped. Luckily it waited until I was back in the hotel room to do so!

Pictures:

Fun things: I have wanted to make this costume forever so it was so awesome to finally be able to! I was shocked at how many people remembered the movie, it was awesome! :D
Bad things: The dress tore right as I was about to take it off! I got lucky!
Worn at: Otakon '03, Dragon*Con '04
Status: Retired
Group: w/ the BR group at Otakon '03!
Character: There was a big BR group going down at Otakon 2003 and there were at least 15 people listed as showing up for it. XD I decided to be Yukie Utsumi. She appealed to me for some reason when I watched the movie (and read the book). I guess it was her leadership qualities. Since I have none, it was fun to dress up like someone who does! ;D Also, Yukie and her blue shoes -- I actually had a pair like hers, so I was all set on that. IT WAS LIKE A SIGN LOL. Much <3 to Terri for the collar~!

Pictures:

Fun things: It was awesome wearing this costume. Battle Royale is so fun to cosplay. I loved the tie and the skirt and everything. XD
Bad things: Nothing. I couldn't bring my gun that looked liked her S&W because it looked too much like a real gun. But other than that this costume ruled.
